A cheerful song for the new year season. 

Writing — mostly ficlets, meta, creative non-fiction and maybe a little bit of art, for the 30 day character study challenge on Celebrían my beloved! These are going to be out-of-order, but each chapter will make it clear which day it applies to. 

The mountain has always been a place of growth and safety and memory. It will stand in the face of war and water, fated to last until the end of Arda. The spirit of Himring will watch, and remember.

Nellas, long after the fall of Doriath, is again a witness to tragedy

This is a very geeky crossover between The Silmarillion and Njal’s Saga, the longest and arguably best of the early medieval Icelandic Sagas which Tolkien knew very well. 

Lalwen has known the bliss of Valinor unmarred, but this is sweeter.

Sauron has taken Celebrimbor as a prisoner in Ost-in-Edhil. Whump happens.

Of Elros and Elrond growing up in the First Age during the War of Wrath.

Chapter 1: circa 562 F.A. - the long winning streak of Finarfin's renowned Liberators comes to an end when an orc raid does not go according to plan, and the twins must accept a new path

Chapter 2: circa 546 F.A. - winds of change reach the Feanorians' remote encampment in Ossiriand, and an unexpected messenger brings news from Valinor

Chapter 3: circa 567 F.A. - years have passed since the Peredhil assumed their new role, when an unexpected detour brings them closer to familiar territory

Chapter 4: circa 547, F.A. - Finarfin has an ultimatum if the Feanorians wish to retain a place in his host during the Great War to come

There was a gap between them that he did not know how to cross.

As Lúcellë entered the courtyard, which was missing the fountain that had been there previously, instead sporting a much less attractive hole in the ground—clearly awaiting a new creation, whenever Fëanáro or Nerdanel managed to finish it—a young voice called out to her from above. “Aunt Lúcellë!” She looked up to find Macalaurë hanging out of a window, waving, with his dark hair falling over his shoulders and into his eyes.

Haleth and Caranthir meet in the forest of Thargelion, both with a particular itch to scratch. The encounter goes quite different than expected, for one of them. Written for the Porn Battle XIV, for the prompts "angry, red, once". 

Years after the Darkening, Anairë rides to Alqualondë to seek comfort with her friend Eärwen. Written for Porn Battle XIV, for the prompts 'friendship, loss, forgiveness'.

Sauron was not always wholly evil, and after he was freed from Morgoth, he turned from the darkness for a while. But meeting a wandering minstrel proves too much for his newfound convictions, and leaves Maglor in grave danger. Written for Iavalir at My Slashy Valentine 2013.

After the Dagor Bragollach Curufin seeks refuge in Nargothrond, setting in motion events that do not always work in his favour. 

One night in Doriath, Melian seeks to teach Galadriel something of her magic.
