A collection of Silmfic written for SWG’s January 2017 ‘Taboo’ prompts. Some will be co-written with, or perhaps solely written by, my co-author and dear friend Emma, and those will be noted.

Even at the best of times, life in the Black Land is a struggle. Its denizens seem to be their own worst enemies and things are rarely as they first seem. A certain Orc finds that out the hard way. Sequel to "Wolves And Shattered Shields".

An Orc and an Elf tries to learn to live with a bond that should not be, but as the War between the Elves and Sauron picks up things go from bad to worse. Sequel to "The Ties that Bind".

Middle Earth, early Second Age. An Orc captures a young Noldo during an ambush in the White Mountains. He plans to use her for some "sport", but things don't go according to plan. Or perhaps they do?

This collection will include ficlets and other short pieces which deal with Elros and his descendants.

The first chapter was written in response to a request by Bunn for an Elros drabble.

Elrond meets his foster-father Maglor again, after the fall of Beleriand.

There is mention of the deaths of Elros and Maedhros in this, but neither is described in detail.

Tolkien drabbles set in the Third Age, with sufficient content from the Silmarillion/LOTR appendices/HOME/etc. that it seems reasonable to post them here. (Exactly 100 words as counted by MS Word. Please see table of contents for individual summaries.)

Drabbles or any other really short fics

Purple is the colour of deepest mourning, but in the last days of Numenor a young woman chooses to defy convention.

Ilmarë hovered outside that small cool patch of twilight, and called gently to her old friend, beckoning her. I want to show you something, she said. Come away with me, to the stars.

The story of the second companion of Finrod and Beren to die in the dungeons of Tol-in-Gaurhoth.

This is mainly Idril gushing over what a hunk Tuor is. I'm pretty sure that's canon.

Beren has done this before, carrying the names of the dead.

Trapped in a cave by a rainstorm, Maglor and Maedhros reminisce and discuss future plans.

After the Battle of Unnumbered Tears, the surviving Easterlings of Ulfang's tribe--although they had ensured Morgoth's victory by attacking their allies, the Elves, without warning-- instead of the reward they had expected, were driven by Morgoth into Dor-lomin where he held them penned. 
But not all of them--some were left behind.

Elwing is a troubled child, acting out to avoid facing the trauma of her past. During the survivors' first Yule at Sirion, mariners from Balar bring gifts to the refugees, and inspired by their benevolence, Elwing and Eärendil remake an old tradition into a new symbol of hope. For Talullah Red.

Very short pieces set in Beleriand or Valinor, some of which are slightly experimental.

The story of the fourth companion of Finrod and Beren to die in the dungeons of Tol-in-Gaurhoth.

Maedhros, reincarnated, brings back to Valinor a shattered Maglor.

In Eregion, years and years after they have all passed beyond the Seas or disappeared, resting in the safety of Annatar's arms, Tyelperinquar finally talks of his father and uncles and of the silver, that haunts his nightmares.

(Silver. Always silver).

Melian tries to help Finrod.

Fingolfin orders the separation of Finrod and Glorfindel.
