New Challenge: Epic 80s
This month's challenge features hundreds of fresh prompts from the bodacious decade of the 1980s.

A place to store drabbles and ficlets, mostly written for various prompts.

The quilt stayed with him — first on Balar, then in Lindon, then in Rivendell. It kept his children warm at night and, later, covered the bed of a small boy named Estel. And when Sauron was finally defeated — the One Ring destroyed at the tiny hands of two brave Hobbits — and it was time for the Ringbearers to depart Middle-earth forever, Elrond took the quilt, worn and threadbare though it was, with him.

Maedhros' hand is hurting him. Elrond has an idea that might help.

It isn't the first time things got bad for Maedhros, but it is the first time that Elrond and Elros notice.

Because life is full of unlikely surprises, Market day on the island of Balar brings a few unexpected guests.

A loosely related collection of stories about Elrond and Celebrían in Aman.
Final two chapters: Elladan and Elrohir bring gifts and memorializing Arwen.

Elrond travels to Ost-in-Edhil to warn Celebrimbor to be wary of strangers bearing gifts.

Various short pieces.
Newest (3/19/16):
"Ammë": Curufin and Celebrimbor struggle with the absence of Celebrimbor's mother.

Bilbo struggles to understand some of the words in a poem he's found.

On Tol Eressëa, Celebrían recovers and remembers.

Cedric Diggory is dead. But does that mean his role in the Second Wizarding War is over? Who is this hooded Reaper, and what does he want?
Bella Swan exists as a mere shell after being left by Edward Cullen. Can she find healing and newfound purpose in the most unliekly of places? And what does Leah Clearwater's phasing have to do with the whole business?
And who are these tall, beautiful people who never seem to age? They're not quite wizards, but they sure know lots about magic.

This is just a little oneshot that I posted on FFn last Christmas. It follows Omega directly.

Different decisions by Sauron lead to startlingly different futures, while chance causes the best-laid of plans to go awry.

Sauron assassinates Ar-Pharazôn before the Great Armament can be sent against Valinor, and takes power as Steward, turning the military might of Numenor and Mordor against the Eldar and Faithful; the history of Arda is altered forever.

Request from Winterwitch: “ . . . something about Maedhros and Elrond would be lovely, perhaps of the time when one of the two discovers his respect, admiration, or even fondness of the other. Or Maglor and Elrond in the same situation.”
This is young Elrond's POV in the first hours after Maedhros and Maglor take him and his brother with them from the Havens of Sirion.

Elrond is swept away by a new acquaintance, Glorfindel gets a new lease on life, and Erestor just wants everyone not to die. Written for Lynndyre, Ardor in August 2014.

From the Sacking of Sirion to Amon Ereb; from princes to captives to sons. The story of the unlikely bond between Elrond and Elros and Maglor and Maedhros.

A young Elladan and Elrohir return from playing by the sea with a strange tale that sends their father on a mad chase.

Collection for slightly longer pieces featuring Maedhros.
Now added: Land of Mist (Maedhros, Fingon)

"He's getting better," Idril had told her quietly. "And he was never really all the bad." It was those words that led Nimloth to come that day, to face someone she had put out of her mind. But Idril hadn't been there for the Second Kinslaying. She hadn't see him. She almost turned around until she remembered that Idril had been there for the First. Fic: Nimloth visits Maedhros.

Elrond and Elros return to Sirion, take up sailing lessons with Círdan in Balar, and are forced to confront aspects of their past they’d both rather avoid.
