New Challenge: Everyman
Create a fanwork about an ordinary character in the legendarium using a quote about an unnamed character as inspiration.

Elros has found a starving Maglor on the beach. What now?

A story for Feanorian week. One chapter for each brother. Based on the seven deadly sins and the seven virtues.
I am an unapologetic fan of the sons of Fëanor. I find them (and their parents and extended family) to be the most fascinating, complex and morally ambiguous characters in Tolkien's writings.
I usually tend to view and write them in a positive, redemptive light. This was an attempt for me to write a darker or less appealing side of them. Of course, being me, I had to counter each negative I wrote with its opposing positive.

Short stories about the House of Fëanor for the Fëanorian Week.
Day 1: Maedhros - After being rescued from Angband, Maedhros suffers from nightmares and has some dark thoughts.
Day 2: Maglor - Maglor brings his new charges to bed, and wishes the Ambarussa had lived.
Day 3: Celegorm - On their way to Nargothrond, Celegorm realizes he loves Lúthien.
Day 4: Caranthir - Caranthir the Dark settles in Thargelion and meets first Haleth and later Ulfang.
Day 5: Curufin - In the final moments before his death, Curufin reminisces.
Day 6: Ambarussa - As revenge for Celegorm, Amrod and Amras assassinate Dior’s twin sons.
Day 7 : Fëanor & Nerdanel - Fëanor intends to propose to Nerdanel.

Elros, future King of Numenor, makes the acquaintance of some of his future subjects--and finds out that some traditions that he thought forgotten have survived the drowning of Beleriand.

Consideration of free will and the nature of elves.

The first sighting of Gil-Estel by the Sons of Feanor.
Slightly canon-divergent.

"My problem is Meril, father,” Tindómiel said and took another deep breath, her heart pounding with the confession reaching her lips. “I love her deeply, and that is the source of my pain."

Elwing and the wind. (There are powers in Arda that are not told of in the histories.)

With the Silmaril lost, Maglor is driven by Elwing’s words to look for her children.

Bits of memory from Elrond's early childhood. (Double drabble.)

A collection of fills written for rthstewart's 3 Sentence Ficathon in 2013 and 2015, for Tolkien-based prompts. (Mostly Silmarillion, with one for Farmer Giles of Ham and Sir Orfeo, and one non-Tolkien crossover.)
Chapters 2 & 3: More Tolkien-based fills written for caramelsilver's 3 Sentence Ficathon in 2016 and 2017.

After the Third Kinslaying, Maedhros and Maglor take Elwing's twin sons captive.

(Also cabbages, and kings.) Ficlets which are, even by my standards, too short to stand alone (and aren't part of a series).
#6: Finduilas contemplates sickness and Nienor.

Elros and his wife, and the making of a queen. A legend of Meneltarma.

Elrond remembers Sirion, and learns the art of the sword.

Short tales that should have remained untold.

Elrond, and a quiet night at the conclusion of the War of Wrath.

After the Third Kin-slaying, Maglor and Maedhros return to their camp in Ossiriand with Elwing's sons. A human woman learns of what happened and must make hard decisions.

That moment when the smalest thingd from life leave a mark that will remain far longer than we imagined...

A place to store drabbles and ficlets, mostly written for various prompts.

The quilt stayed with him — first on Balar, then in Lindon, then in Rivendell. It kept his children warm at night and, later, covered the bed of a small boy named Estel. And when Sauron was finally defeated — the One Ring destroyed at the tiny hands of two brave Hobbits — and it was time for the Ringbearers to depart Middle-earth forever, Elrond took the quilt, worn and threadbare though it was, with him.

It isn't the first time things got bad for Maedhros, but it is the first time that Elrond and Elros notice.

Because life is full of unlikely surprises, Market day on the island of Balar brings a few unexpected guests.

Various short pieces.
