Aragorn, as the first Gondorian king in nearly a thousand years, chose as his wife an unknown lady from an Elven kingdom. Certainly this would create some friction between Arwen and certain elements of Gondor's stratified society. Imrahil has an idea for how to help her, but to put it in motion, he needs help from an unlikely ally - the new queen's father.

Feanor's soul is lost in the Halls of Mandos and in its own faded memories.

From the flimsy boughs of a dying tree, a dark figure listens to the chaos of night unfold around him. He strives to do all that he can, knowing that it is already too late. Luck, however, does not always favour the wicked, and this he knows well.

Was a harp required equipment for Noldorin rescue missions? In other words: Fingon sets out for Angband to rescue Maedhros—but why is he carrying a harp?

MEFA 2010 - Second Place - Genres: Humour: Parody or Black Humour

The copper circlet that Maedhros wore in Valinor had been made by Curufin.  After their arrival in East Beleriand, Curufin offers to replace the lost circlet by a new one. The ‘copper band’ is also Maedhros himself, trying to tie people together with varying success.

From the viewpoint of Curufin, because in previous stories I’d basically written him off as ‘hard to read’. He and Maedhros agree to disagree about the abdication business.

With a brief glimpse of Celebrimbor and some foreshadowing of later events.

Curufin watches his father die.

Daeron and Maglor through the ages; alone, together, or both. And this is how things begin, but they never end.

Maeglin spends an afternoon alone in his head. Even with company.

I seem to remember a note of Christopher Tolkien's saying that his father never etymologized the word Leithian or explained exactly what is meant by the title Lay of Leithian. This may well be wrong, but meanwhile here's this - well, you might call it a meditation.

Intended for the "To Be Free" challenge, although perhaps it doesn't really fit...

A place to house my short ficlets as I write them, or the ones that I can't bring myself to post here as individual stories anyway. Most of these will just a couple of hundred words long. 

#1 - "The Way That We Love" - Fingolfin/Anaire, very loosely based on theme of "Five Things Anairë Hates About Fingolfin". Written Dec'07.

#2 - "Inheritance" - a sort of missing moment story featuring Círdan and a very young Ereinion Gil-galad. Gen. Written Mar'10.

After the War of Wrath, Eärendil has a chance to meet his sons. The reunion doesn't quite go as expected.
Possibly AU, but your mileage may vary on that.

The confrontation in Tirion between Fingolfin and Fëanor led to Fëanor being banned to Formenos.

It is reported in the Silmarillion that when Finrod Felagund first met the people of Beor, he had been hunting with Maedhros and Maglor, but had parted from them because he was “wearied of the chase”. According to this story, that was the official explanation given out for his abrupt departure but what in fact had happened was that he had a conversation with Maedhros that first surprised, and then upset him...

The “eminently unsuitable” person of the title is Fingon, of course, but as the story is told from Finrod’s point of view, this is not explicitly stated anywhere.

Very short, less than 500 words, in which Fingon and Maedhros discuss regrets or lack thereof on the night before they last separate to prepare their own hosts and allies for the Battle of Unnumbered Tears. 2010 Middle-earth Fanfiction Awards Nominee

Elrond and Elros are teens being raised by Maglor, and they have some struggles with their identities. 

I:  Fingon is unable to articulate his wishes unambiguously, so Maedhros finds seduction a terrifying and lonely business.

II: This time, Fingon states his feelings very clearly, in the face of Maedhros’s doubts.

Originally designed as a companion piece to Counting the Hours largely from Maedhros’ point of view, as the other story is largely from Fingon’s. (The original  middle section has since been moved elsewhere in the series.)

Re warnings: "Graphic" really only applies to the beginning of Section I, I think.
